Advertising

Japan has law that forbid advertising campaigns for Tobacco. But alcohol is allowed to advertise campaign. In my opinion, the advertising campaigns for Tobacco should allow. But it should prohibit broadcasting prime-time on television only. The law prohibit a minor from smoking so the law should decrease the opportunity of paying attention for minor as much as possible. And I think the all advertisement have to warn them.

I am studying law in university . So I’m interested this topic. What do you think about Japan?
I want to know a lot of opinion! Please be heard me more opinion.

  3. This is a complicated question. Neither tobacco or alcohol is illegal, right? But both are really bad for you and they are both highly addictive. There are lots of other things that are bad for you too... chocolate, fried foods, tanning beds... so, where do you start forbidding advertisements for things that are legal, but bad for you??

I STRONGLY believe that tobacco SHOULD be illegal, but impossible to enforce. During the 1930's, alcohol was illegal in the US (Prohibition) and smuggling became a legal nightmare.

Anyway, if advertisements of tobacco and alcohol are restricted, and that results in reduced usage, then I am all for that! I could talk about this issue all day!

I have spent some time in Japan. Was very surprised by the large number of people smoking... in a country that is otherwise concerned with living a healthy lifestyle.
